The Ancient Pull

The year 2019 had threefold significance in my corner of the universe: it was the year of the fortieth Buxton Festival Fringe, the fiftieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, and the year I turned sixty.  So the time seemed right for a new musical endeavour, and I grabbed the opportunity with two of my available hands.

The eventual result was ‘The Ancient Pull’, described on all the publicity as “a moonstruck song-cycle”, which pretty much says it all.

What sort of songs, you may ask?  If you want to tie them down to a genre, ‘space-age folk-rock’ is a term that came to me one half-asleep morning recently.

None of the music is available to sample on this site, because I haven't recorded it properly yet.  Recordings will happen eventually, but in the meantime you can read the lyrics if you're so inclined; they're linked below.

‘The Ancient Pull’ in live performance has provoked some gratifying responses: here are some of them.
