Welcome to my website.  I'm Paul Cromford, or at least that's “a name I call myself”.  My real name is given in the copyright information at the foot of each page.

In my time (all sixty-five years of it, as of April 2024), I've:-

  • written, performed and recorded songs;
  • composed instrumental music;
  • drawn & painted;
  • scribbled all manner of text.

I also used the Inexplicable Lockdown Years as an opportunity to try my hand at writing and recording sketches for several series of audio magazine programmes.  Here they all are.

My current project is 'The Ancient Pull', a cycle of twenty-three songs for solo guitar and voice, concerning our age-old relationship with the Moon.  Shortlisted for a New Writing award at the 2019 Buxton Festival Fringe, it's been revised, expanded, and was performed beneath a Museum of the Moon installation at St Giles the Abbot church in Cheadle, Staffordshire, on 26th March.... its first performance (and my first live appearance)  in nearly five years.  Further performances around the Staffordshire Moorlands are being planned, discussed and negotiated; keep an eye on this page for updates and details.

This website has gone through many changes over the years, and a massive overhaul is well overdue.  Reconstruction is starting to happen gradually, over the next few months; see the section headings on the panel nearby.

Be good,

... the only songwriter worth mentioning.”
